Guru Jayashankar Menon ,a well known Bharatnatyam teacher ,took to dancing at an  early age.He learned kathakali first and then picked up fundamentals of Bharatnatyam from Guru Paramasivam Pillai of Tanjore.In delhi he continued training under the Late Guru Govindrajan which blossomed into a fruitful association over some twenty years.

Shri Menon has enthralled audiences through his performances notably the annual Swathithirunal and  Nisha Gandhi festivals.He is also featured in the National Programme of Dance on Doordarshan.

Shri Menon is not only a reputed dancer but an eminent teacher.He founded Nritya and under its banner has been teaching a large number of students in Bharatnatyam.
